Many organizations have undertaken environmental “reviews” or “audits” to assess their environmental
Performance. On their own, however, these “reviews” and “audits” may not be sufficient to provide an
organization with the assurance that its performance not only meets, but will continue to meet, its legal and policy requirements. To be effective, they need to be conducted within a structured management system that is integrated within the organization.

The structured management system is developed by ISO for Environment, is known as ISO 14001 – Environmental Management system (EMS). This ISO 14001 – Environmental Management system  and it a contractual standard which is being used by organization for Implementation or certification purpose.

The effectiveness of ISO 14001 - Environmental Management system (EMS) , within the organization can be achieved by creation knowledge among the all concerns in the organization at each level . The effective implementation of ISO 14001, within the organization can be possible , only with competent personnel .
